TC Young are delighted to announce that Nina Derrin, Associate in the firms Edinburgh office, has recently attained accreditation with the Law Society of Scotland as a Family Law Mediator.
Family mediation accreditation from the Law Society of Scotland is only granted once a solicitor has undertaken and completed the required rigorous training and has been assessed by a Panel of mediation experts. This accreditation compliments Nina’s recent appointment to the list of Child Welfare Reporters in the Sheriffdom of Lothian and Borders.
Mediation is a voluntary process which aims to provide disputing parties the opportunity to ventilate issues and work towards decisions themselves that will resolve matters for the benefit of them and their children. Family law mediation is an alternative dispute resolution method to deal with child related or financial issues arising from separation or divorce and can, when successful, remove the need for court intervention.
Nina commented “I am pleased to have received this recognition from the Law Society of Scotland. It is the culmination of a lot of hard work and determination but ultimately hugely rewarding and something I am sure will benefit both myself and my clients.”
Grant Knight, Partner, added: “I am delighted to see Nina successfully achieve this accreditation, which is thoroughly deserved and underlines our firms commitment to training and development.”
This latest accreditation takes the number of accredited mediators within the TC Young Family Law team up to 3, with Nina joining Evelyn Wallace (Associate) & Vivien Riddell (Senior Solicitor).
