Data Protection and the GDPR
We provide advice to clients in relation to data protection issues and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This includes the review of policies and procedures, and contentious matters.
What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation replaced the Data Protection Act 1998. This change impacted on how personal information is collected and stored by organisations. Businesses need to have Privacy Policy and Notices, as well as other contractual documentation.
Our Experience
- We were commissioned to produce a suite of model documentation and guidance materials to Glasgow West of Scotland Forum, the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and the Scottish Association of Landlords for use by members in relation to GDPR
- Experience of advising clients of their obligations under the GDPR, both towards their employees and customers, including contractual obligations (employee and third-party related) and issues relating to customers’ personal data and retention of that data
- We review policies that clients have in place to check their compliance with the GDPR
Training
We have led several external training sessions and many bespoke in-house sessions regarding the GDPR for both registered social landlords and the private rented sector. Training can be arranged to be either in-house or externally.
