Commercial Solicitor Vacancy

TC Young are looking to recruit a solicitor (up to 5yrs PQ) for our Commercial department, based in our Glasgow office. This is a new role that has recently been created within the department.    This role is ideally 35 hours per week – with a minimum of 3 days a week spent in the office, but consideration will be given to part-time working (28 hours a week) for exceptional candidates.

The role is likely to evolve in line with the needs of the firm but presents a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual who is keen to enjoy a variety of different work at an early stage of their career.  Due to the volume of work within the department the successful candidate will ultimately be expected to manage a large and varied caseload within a very busy department.

What you can expect …   at TC Young we are proud to be a friendly firm that cares passionately about our staff.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to advance their career.   The partners feel strongly that it is beneficial when people enjoy their job and work hard to ensure they do.  We have several staff members who joined us over 30 years ago; who would confirm they stay with us because they like their job, the environment they work in and they have been supported to develop their roles; training opportunities and supportive managers.

What we are looking for …   the successful candidate will ideally have the following:

  • Experience of projects, structures & commercial transactions
  • Experience of corporate work and corporate governance would be advantageous
  • An interest in charitable law

In an ideal world, the successful candidate will be capable of ‘hitting the ground running’ but it is more important they understand how to manage client deadlines, is confident and enjoys having extensive client contact, can work under pressure and thrives on an ability to prioritise and manage a growing case load effectively.   Full training can be given if required for someone who shows they are passionate about this area of law.

Reliable with excellent attention to detail, you will be working in a team where there will be extensive client contact.  Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to quickly understand a client’s requirements and tailor advice accordingly.

In return, we offer a friendly office, structured training, a commitment to a good work-life balance, 33 days holiday, a flexible holiday scheme and a generous pension.   Our firm has held IiP accreditation since 1997.  Salary is dependent on experience.

Interested candidates should send their CV (limited to 2 pages), with a covering email outlining why they are interested in working for TC Young, their preferred working pattern and salary expectations to jobs@tcyoung.co.uk.
