Bio
Douglas Collingham is a partner in TC Young’s Property Team with expertise in commercial property including development site acquisitions, commercial leases, purchases and sales of commercial property and secured lending.
He is a tutor on the Diploma in Legal Practice Course at the University of Glasgow where he teaches conveyancing to postgraduate students training to become lawyers.
Clients are able to benefit from his tremendous conveyancing experience (over 35 years) including over 20 years in the affordable housing and charitable sectors.
His experience includes
- Compilation of all legal documentation and dealing with all conveyancing to facilitate the development of a 201 affordable housing unit site in Glasgow. This was the largest RSL grant funded project in Scotland’s history at the time and involved a complex land exchange deal with the local authority;
- Acquisition of a development site for the construction of a progressive care facility/hospital and concluding a joint development agreement between an RSL, the NHS and the local authority for the required funding;
- Advising on all aspects of putting in place commercial leases including:- leases for office, retail and industrial properties; renewable energy site leases; a lease for the construction and operation of a community petrol station site; transfer of lease of a community shopping centre; lease of office unit for use as a law centre; lease of new building for use as a day care centre; lease of new-build retail premises for use as a grocers shop; lease of former outdoor centre; acquisition of lease for respite/holiday accommodation; leases of new units in a medical centre.
Outside work he is kept busy walking his dog and also follows the fortunes of the Scotland rugby team and (mostly) enjoys the matches.
